DUT kick-off event in Brussels facilitates joint action and knowledge sharing

Researchers, practitioners and funding providers gathered in Brussels for the “Driving Urban Transitions” (DUT) Conference and Projects Kick-Off event on 10-12 April 2024. The event focused on partnerships, information exchange, funding opportunities and networking. During the three days, representatives from the various DUT projects had the opportunity to meet and learn about each other’s projects.

The DUT is a European partnership that supports transnational research projects addressing urban sustainable transitions with the aim for cities to become more resilient and inclusive. For this DUT call, 43 projects are funded working on either Positive Energy Districts, Circular Urban Economies or 15-Minute Cities (15MC). The SPECIFIC project belongs to the last of the three categories, which is the largest and includes 23 other research projects. Some of these projects also address sustainable mobility in urban outskirts, while others focus on sustainable public spaces or strengthening the mix of services in cities.
At the kick-off event, representatives of the 15MC projects shared knowledge and ideas, particularly concerning the design of research projects and upcoming experiments. The event also included interactive lectures and workshops, inspirational talks from previously funded projects, and “World Cafés” at which roundtable discussions covered themes of leadership and impact beyond research.
Throughout the duration of the projects, the DUT partnership will facilitate further opportunities for knowledge sharing among the 15MC projects and support knowledge dissemination on sustainable cities.
