After the experiments: SPECIFIC partners gather in Frankfurt

From 22 to 23 January, the academic partners of SPECIFIC met in Frankfurt am Main for one and a half days of intensive discussion and collaborative work. With all transition experiments now completed across the five European cities, the meeting marked a key moment in the project as attention shifts from implementation to analysis and synthesis.
The discussions focused on making sense of the rich body of material generated through the experiments. Partners exchanged perspectives on emerging results, cross-city patterns, and key insights, laying the groundwork for a shared analytical framework that brings together the diverse experiences and contexts of the participating cities.
A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to the project’s outputs. Conversations explored plans for scientific publications, more experimental formats such as zines, and a collective book that will bring together the findings from the five cities. These outputs are intended to reflect both the academic depth of the project and its broader relevance beyond academia. Partners also discussed the development of the project tool, an upcoming output that will be revealed at a later stage.

The Frankfurt meeting provided valuable time for reflection, alignment, and forward planning. As SPECIFIC enters its next phase, the shared focus on analysis and dissemination reinforces the project’s ambition to generate impactful and accessible knowledge from the transition experiments.
The project now moves into an intensive phase of academic writing and scientific dissemination, with partners working closely on the documentation of results. This work will culminate in a final in-person meeting scheduled for spring.
